MOTU announces MachFive

And in further software sampler news MOTU announced the MachFive at NAMM 2003.

Boasting across-the-board compatibility and interoperability with support for every major audio production platform on both Macintosh and Windows (MAS, VST, Audio Units, HTDM, RTAS and DXi), this is another worthy contender for musician's attention in 2003.

MachFive features extensive support for soundbank and sample-import from every major format, including Kurzweil, Roland, Akai and Gigasampler, as well as significant synthesis and modulation options. There is also a built-in multi channel waveform editor capable of utilizing surround sound formats and allowing real-time destructive editing such as normalization, truncation and fades. In effect, this allows you to edit the sounds while playing back and listening to your entire mix.

MachFive also features integrated effects allowing up to 4 effects per part and 8 parts per performance. The slick file management that allows you to quickly scan and load your samples looks enticing and the ability to save all of MachFive's settings with the host application's project should simplify the task of keeping track of samples within the project.

Further specifications can be found at MOTU.

Will 2003 be the year when the hardware sampler is finally usurped by soft-samplers?
