Play the Silophone

Canadian duo [The User], aka Emmanuel Madan and Thomas McIntosh have previously been known for some pretty odd projects when it comes to sound and music generation. Their Symphony for Dot Matrix Printers albums were a pretty novel idea when released, and one would expect anything from them after that. And with good reason, it seems.
For the last couple of years, they have made musical use of Silo#5, situated on the Montreal harbour. The silo has been left empty as the need for grain storage proved smaller than expected after it was initially built. [The User] has equipped the huge room with speakers and microphones, enabling them to record the resonating reverberation of sound playing in the vast empty concrete building. This has produced a record called Abandon, where they collaborate with musician Stéphane Claude to bring the spaciousness of the Silophone to your CD player. But more than that, they made the Silophone an interactive instrument, allowing anyone with an internet or telephone connection to trigger sounds - custommade or your own - to be played into the silo, streaming the results to you to listen to. Anyone can actually play the Silophone from their home computer or telephone, from anywhere in the world.
