Konfabulator is the older godfather to Dashboard and work pretty much the same. Users of both claim there are subtle and vast differences between the two, the fact remains, to end users -- they are simply cool as hell mini apps in the form of 'Widgets' that can do things as simple as pull up the local weather, to acting as a network based remotes for specific applications.

Best of all, as of today, Konfabulator is free. Bite that Dashboard!!! This Powerbook is running 10.3 for a few more months. Windows users? Best of all, this is cross-platform.
