As should be no surprise for www-surfers, Viacom has filed a lawsuit against Youtube.com, a company acquired by Google for $1.65 billion, last year. In short, Viacom is suing Youtube for copyright infringement, claiming more than $1,000,000,000 (yes, that many digits), to cover damages, and to serve as "an injunction against further violations" for the allegedly almost 160.000 unauthorized clips uploaded by Youtube users, clips that contains the intellectual property of Viacom.
Now, this spurs quite a debate over the future of copyright and viral networking in general, and Youtube in particular.
