Cat put the fanthom in technology

andrew_lloyd_webber_portrait.jpg
According to numerous newswires, including Yahoo, misfortune struck the famed musical composer Andrew Lloyd-Webber while he was busy working on the sequel for "Phantom of the Opera". Apparently, Webber's cat jumped onto the computer keyboard, and with a single stroke erased the entire score. Knowers of Webber's oeuvre, which on last count included roughly 94% of the inhabitants of the western hemisphere, will recognize the irony in faith choosing a cat to be the one spoiling the works of this particular composer.

"But, hold it", some will say (and this is already being said around the www), "in the age of backup strategies incorporated in every other major OS and DAW, with virtually unlimited undo histories, and, come worst-case-scenario, data recovery services available at a price that Sir Andrew should be able to afford, how can this story hold water?". Truth to be said, that cat should have a very lucky paw to be able to strike a combination of keys that would both erase the folder and empty the trash and/or format the hard drive in question, let alone a single paw stroke.

Some openly speculate that we're actually talking of nothing but a PR stunt here. No matter what the truth is, this story is about technology, cats (a favourite subject among Sonikers recently), and music (though a few people might argue that point), and so it belongs here.
