Logic:GlobalTrack-Beat Mapping
From Sonikmatter
Tap Tempo has been pretty much made obselete because of Beat Mapping. Beat Mapping has now given us the ability to map out the tempo of an entire song from audio, or from MIDI by creating our own "click track."
To Enable the Beat Mapping Track, from the Arrange Pull-down Menu: View>Global Track Components>Beat Mapping

Simple Conductor Track:
First you need to create a "Conductor Track." Most likely you will want to turn the Metronome off before you begin. You can start with any MIDI or Audio Instrument Track to record.
1. Put Logic into Record and start hitting a key or MIDI trigger.
2. From the Arrange Window's Pull-down Menu: View>Global Track Components>Beat Mapping
3. Make sure the Sequence Object you just created is selected.
4. On the Beat Mapping Track, select Beats from Rgn
There are many more options, just getting this started.
