Kurzweil:DIO26
From Sonikmatter
The DIO26 is an option for the K2600 that allows for multichannel digital input and ouput. The output's are direct digital feeds from the KDFX busses and are fixed at 48kHz, using the KDFX as the master Wordclock.
The outputs can be configured as mono or stereo, depending on how they are set up in KDFX. Note that a KDFX buss is not the same as the outputs selected on the Output page. These latter busses are in fact the inputs to KDFX.
The DIO26 option has KDS connectors, though it also affects the digital output provided by the Sampling Option, in that this digital output can now use either KDFX or the Sampling Option as it's Wordclock reference.
The inputs provided on the DIO26 option are also in KDS format and they appear on the Keymap page, under the mode parameter. These inputs bypass the Pitch page completely, and can't have the pitch modulated in real time, as is possible with Live Mode inputs.
The DIO26 option also allows the KDS Return channel to be fed directly into the sampler, allowing the patchbay facilities of the DMTi's to be utilized better.
To change input and output formats from KDS to the more widely implemented ADAT and TDIF standards will require one or more DMTi's, though these have the added benefit of allowing for a different Wordclock master.
An alternative option for the K2600 is the new DADAT26 option, which is functionally identical to the DIO26 option, except that it has ADAT ports, rather than KDS ports, and it doesn't have the Return channel included in KDS.
The K2661 has this option included in base units.
