Well how about just assigning the mono-pressure controller to the pitch of the layer you want to affect, and not the others. Perhaps there's something I'm missing...

You can use aftertouch to just bend one layer by assigning it as a modulator on the pitch page for that layer. The only downside with this is that aftertouch on the keyboard is monophonic, which means that when you play another drum sound the aftertouch from pushing that key will affect the pitch of the modulated one. Your other option is to use a foot controller or one of the ribbons as a pitch modulator on the layer you want to bend.

this should work; go to the common page of your program and turn the pitch bend range to 0 cts. This stops the pitch wheel from affecting any layers. Next, go to the pitch page of layer 3, Highlight Scr2, press the enter button and move the pitchwheel at the same time. The Pwheel should now be assigned to scr2. Next, Highlight the DptCtl under Scr2, press the enter button and push down on your sustain pedal at the same time. sustain chould now be assigned as the dptctl. Now just set the range you want the tabla to be bent in the MaxDpt e.g 400 cts. When you play the note now and press the sustain pedal and move the pitchwheel you should be able to hear the drum at different pitches.

You may want to go to the layer page of layer 3 and turn off

Suspdl. This stops the pedal from acting as a sustain but seeing as its a drum kit your programming, it wont make much difference.

I've not tried this, my K isnt with me right now but it should work -

let me know if it doesnt. good luck.

Hi Dhiraj,

As in all things VAST there are several ways to do this. Here's the easiest:

On Layer 3, go to the Pitch Page and assign MPress to Src1. Set the Depth to the desired value. "Ta-Da!" Done.

Now, if you also want Continuous Foot Control (CC#4) to do the same thing, you can create an "a+b" FUN that has MPress and Foot combined and then assign that FUN to Src1 in the Pitch Page.

Or, for separate Depths on MPress and Foot, leave MPress in Src1 and additionally assign Foot to Src2's DptCtl. Make Src2 be "On" and set Src2's MaxDpt to the desired value. Done!

As a final touch, you may want to run MPress through a Lowpass FUN to smooth out the Pitch bending a little. (It will keep your Tabla's pitch from jumping back to zero to quickly.)

Good luck with your masterpiece,

Keni,

Just checking -- you have set the KDFX studio B inputs to mono? Have you set the Digitech wet/dry mix to zero on the effects page of the program or on the Effects mode page (if in master mode on the effects mode page)?

Two ideas that occured to me.

God bless!

Make sure that the two outputs are bypassing the final aux bus and that their output is routed directly to the output group that you are trying to use (A, B, C, or D.) Hope this helps... Steve <><

Hi,

on the layer page of your palm rubbing sample, there is a parameter

called enable. This switches the layer on and off. You can set this to whatever pedal you want by hichlighting the parameter, holding enter and moving yor pedal.

The two numbers underneath the Enable parameter set the range of the

enable. The default is 64 - 127 which means whenever your pedal transmits a value within this range the layer will be turned on. A value outside this range turns the layer off.

If your foot pedal is a continuous controller (transmits all values

from 0 - 127 and not just Off (0) and On (127)) you could set the enable for the down rubbing to 64 - 96 and set the "up rubbing" to another layer with the enable set to the same controller but with values 97 - 127.

There are quite a few ways to do this, but its hard to write fully

without knowing your set-up e.g. how many pedals do you have, are they continuous etc. If you're still having trouble write back.

good luck with the patch - it sounds like an interesting project

I missed the pitch bend part but a couple of things to try

1: assign key velocity on the pitch page of each layer, the harder you strike the more pitch you have

2: on each layer, go to the output page.. there is cross fade assign one layer normal, the other layer reverse then assign the pedal as a control.

3: you may also add layer 3 and four and assign a cross fade of more sounds and use another controller to switch them

Try it and see what happens Take Care,
