Kurzweil:Double Notch with separation
From Sonikmatter
The Double Notch with separation filter is a 3 block filter similar to the Two-pole Notch filter, except that it features 2 notches, rather than the one. The center frequency actually controls the frequency of the point midway between the two notches, which can cause some confusion when using this block. The width affects both notches, though the lower frequency notch will be affected more by this parameter than the higher frequency notch, while the separation parameter is positive. When the separation parameter is negative, this behaviour is reversed, and the width parameter affects the higher frequency notch more.
The separation controls the distance between the two notches, one notch being half the separation above the centre frequency and the other being half the separation below the centre frequency.
This filter is quite subtle until it is layered with a dry, or differently filtered layer. Modulating the centre frequency, width and separation will enhance the audible effects of this filter. This filter can be great for making subtle, and unusual changes to a sound, in a way not possible with most other synths.
It can also be useful to surgically removing unwanted frequency's from a sound, particularly when the separation and width parameters are low.
