Kurzweil:Highpass

From Sonikmatter

Highpass Filters are those that allow high Frequencies to pass, while Attenuation low Frequencies. Among it's uses are removing low end rumble and hum, and for adding detail to sounds by layering a filtered copy of the sound with the original version. Highpass Filters preserve Attack transients while reducing the steady state sound response.

This can be used to extract the click at the start of a kick drum, while Attenuation the low end bass component.

A Highpass Filter can be built mathematically, electrically or electronically. An RC filter can be built by placing a capacitor in series of one of the wires connecting the input to the output, and placing a resistor across the wires (between ground and signal) after the capacitor.
