Kurzweil:Pitch

From Sonikmatter

The pitch block is where you have the complete control over the pitch and tuning of your sound. You have both Coarse control (in semitones) as well as more Fine control (in cents). Ranges are -128ST to +127ST and -100ct to +100ct.

The parameters on the Pitch page are:

Coarse

For control over the pitch in semitones, from -128ST to +127ST. Used for "transposing" the layer.

Fine

For even more resolution in your pitch control, the Fine parameter lets you adjust your tuning in cents, from -100ct (one semitone down) to +100ct (one semitone up). Very useful for making your sounds "fatter" by tuning two layers at the same pitch apart by a few cents for a slight chorused effect.

FineHz

FineHz is useful for adjust the relative tuning between two layers in Hertz rather than semitones. Having two pitches that are similar in timbre but tuned slightly different creates "beat patterns" that you hear oscillate. The rate of oscillation you hear is the difference in Hertz between the two frequencies. (e.g If you have one layer playing a tone at 100hz and a second playing a similar tone at 102hz, you will hear a "beating" that repeats at a rate of 2hz.) Using FineHz rather than Fine helps keep the beat frequency consistant up and down the length of the keyboard.
