Logic:FAQ- Change right mouse button

From Sonikmatter

How do I change what the right mouse button does?

In most Windows Logic defaults to the toolbox when clicking on the right mouse button. This can be changed to the tool of your choice.

From the Main Pull-down Menu: Logic Pro>Preferences>Global
Select the "Editing" Tab

Editing

Right Mouse Button:
[ Opens Toolbox             ]
Limit Dragging to One Direction In:
[   ]
Matrix and Score
[   ]
Arrange
Double-clicking MIDI Regions opens:
[ Matrix Editor             ]
Limit Multiple Undo Steps:
[ 30             ]
[   ]
Add 'Last Edit Function' to Region Name
[   ]
'Living Groove' connection
[   ]
SmartLoop handling of Scissors and 'Split by SPL'

Right Mouse Button:

  • Selections:
    • Is Assignable to a Tool - When Right Mouse Button is clicked brings up a tool.
    • Opens Toolbox - Brings up the Toolbox which is also default assigned to the Esc Key

  1. Change "Opens Toolbox" to "Is Assignable to a Tool".
  2. Close the Preferences Window
  3. Hit Esc to bring up the Toolbox
  4. Use the right mouse button to select a tool.

Now the right button will be that tool in most windows until you change it.
