Logic:Tutorial- Physical Input Switching

From Sonikmatter

In the Click & Ports Layer of the Environment, Logic defaults to the Physical Input SUM cabled to the Sequencer Input. It does go through several other Objects but that connection is there. If you wanted to single out Inputs from the Physical Input you would have to disconnect and reconnect cables as you see fit. Instead you can have a permanent setup where you could just click on buttons to enable Input Ports on the Physical Input.

You could have many Input Ports that show up on the Physical Input. In this case I am going to pretend that you have 4 items (plus the SUM) showing up in your Physical Input just because you could repeat the steps for as many ports as you have.

Objects Needed:

  1. Using the mouse, grab the first triangle on the top of each Cable Switcher and drop it on the Null Ornament.
  2. Using the mouse, grab the second triangle from each Cable Switcher and drop it on the Sequencer Input (or "to Recording & Thru" object)
  3. Using the mouse, grab the first triangle from the top of the Physical Input (SUM) and drop it on the first Cable Switcher.
  4. Using the mouse, grab the second triangle from the Physical Input and drop it on the second Cable Switcher.
  5. Continue this in succession untill all Physical Input Ports have a cable going to a Cable Switcher.
  6. Select all Cable Switchers and in the Parameter Window on the left and change "Style: Auto Style" to "Style: Button"

You are done. Now any button that is on becomes an active Input Port from the Physical Input to the Sequencer Input.
