VP: LEARN Mode

From Sonikmatter

  1. The LEARN mode provides a way of "teaching" VP about the location of the fields on the various screens found in the Kurzweil user interface. All of the fields on a Kurzweil screen become hotspots when viewed through VP. All of the hotspots on a screen must be learned for cursoring to happen properly when clicking on a hotspot.
  2. The Learn checkbox enables the learn mode. When enabled, the user can "cursor around" on the screen using the VP Up, Down, Left & Right buttons. (Don't use the buttons on the Kurzweil itself.) When a Field is learned it becomes a different color indicating that it is hot. Once all of the fields on a screen are "hot" then the user can simply click on it and VP will automatically cursor the Kurzweil screen to the proper field (i.e., point & click is now available for that screen).
  3. Be warned, LEARN mode is very slow! Don't leave LEARN mode enabled when it is not needed else you will become very discouraged.
  4. This "learned" information is saved in the VP metafile and reused in future editing sessions, so it only has to be learned once. (Note that I attempt to ship the most complete metafile that I can when releasing new versions. You only need to do this when you find a screen that I haven't yet gotten too myself. -Warp)
  5. Command REMFRAME - This command forces VP to "forget" the hotspots for a screen. Use this if something gets messed up and you believe that re-teaching VP for a particular page might help.
